On Reiki Attunements And Symbols
What is a Reiki Attunement? It can sound pretty mystical but the short answer is that its a way for the healer to tune in to specific healing frequencies consistently.
It’s like being able to tune your radio to a reliable station or tune your guitar to a tuning fork.
What are Reiki Symbols?
The symbols are the name for the energy. Like the number on your radio dial, or the name of a musical note, for instance, G#. The radio stations are a type of radio frequency. The musical notess represent sound frequencies. Having a name and a symbol give us a way to know when we’re tuned in to the frequency we want when we want it.
A Reiki attunement gives us a way to tune in to the exact healing frequency we want when we want it.
When you learn Reiki, your Reiki Master Teacher will teach you all of the appropriate techniques and ethics. They’ll make sure you get some practice. Then at some point. during the class they will give you an attunement.
In physics class, we learn about resonance. When you strike a tuning fork, perhaps to the note of B, on one side of a room, and you have a B tuning fork on the other side of the room, eventually the other tuning fork will start to vibrate and resonate with the fork you struck and make the same sound.
We believe that the attunement process is an energetic resonance. When you strike a tuning fork with the note A, it begins to vibrate with sound of A. If there is another tuning fork, tuned to A in the room, the sound waves resonate and the other fork will start to vibrate as well, just like in physics class.
A Reiki attunement is a bit like that. A Master Teacher will hold the Reiki frequencies for each student until they begin to resonate with that frequency.
The student will recognize the feeling of the healing vibration of each frequency and recognize it by its name and symbol, just like a recognizing the sound of musical note.
Once attuned, the student can access the energy they want when they want it. The more the student practices, the more finely tuned they become as an instrument of healing.
It also gives us as healers, something to do with our mind. When we become distracted, we can set our minds on the task of drawing the symbol and thinking of the name of the energy. It enables us to be more focused and more consistent in delivering powerful healing energy every time.
